JMO, if you're really getting used to it and are happy with it whatever, but I wouldn't settle on "being able to skate it", that would shit me so hard if I made a mini and it was anything less than just right. You want something you can smith without thinking so you can go up the other side and comfortably launch a frontside flip, knowing you've got a decent amount of tranny to land in. You don't want to sweat doing a frontside smith, that's fine for a one off trick on a sketchy 80s bowl, but will get boring fast in your backyard. They're supposed to be fun, mellow and relaxing, the right environment to chill out and get experimental with tricks, that's the whole point of a mini ramp IMO. I would honestly make it again, it would so be worth it, it's a waste of wood to have a mini ramp that you find unpleasant to ride. It's easily the most common mistake with DIY, making janky ass steep shitty tranny that jolts from flat up into a steep wall, and it's because in your mind's eye shit tranny looks ok, what you would guess good tranny looks like from your experience skating it, turns out to be unrealistic and shit, always too short.
It's not steepness that's the problem exactly, it's how quickly it gets into the steepness, that first couple of feet of height needs to be many feet long for it to have that smooth nice flow. It's surprising when you really take a close look at good transition just how LONG it is from coping to flat bottom. Plus, even when I'm completely used to it, what about when I invite friends over to skate it? I have like two friends that would actually be able to skate it successfully. I'm simply speaking in terms of PREFERENCE. How is it being a pussy if I CAN, and do, ride it fine? I'm not going to get buck wild at my house alone, Jesus Christ.Īnd my point was that if you keep on riding it then eventually your not gonna even notice that the trannies steep anymore, and you will then cease to care, but lets face facts here in order to properly solve your issue your basiclaly gonna have to redo all the frame work, yeah you can try adding extra layers too it but then your gonna have the problem of the coping being too low, you could try cutting off the top of the ramp but I assume you built it at that height because thats the height you wanted it, and theres always the chance that you could fuck it up, so I stick with my original statement of stop being a pussy and just ride it as is, eventually the transition steepness aint gonna bother you anymore and youll be wondering wtf you were complaining about I just prefer a more mellow tranny for my yard.
